Summary

Stem cells isolated from inflamed primary teeth pulp can differentiate into multiple lineages, showing similar surface markers to bone marrow stem cells. Oral tissue isolation requires precise techniques.

Area of Science:

  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Stem Cell Biology
  • Oral Biology

Background:

  • Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are a promising source for regenerative therapies.
  • Inflamed primary teeth offer a potential source of DPSCs.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To detail the isolation, processing, and differentiation of stem cells from inflamed primary dental pulp.
  • To compare DPSCs with bone marrow stem cells.

Main Methods:

  • Dental pulp tissue was collected from primary teeth undergoing pulp therapy.
  • Cells were cultured, isolated, and induced for in vitro differentiation.
  • Cell surface markers of DPSCs were analyzed and compared to bone marrow.

Main Results:

  • No significant differences in surface marker expression were observed between DPSCs and bone marrow stem cells.
  • Stem cells derived from dental pulp successfully differentiated into multiple lineages.

Conclusions:

  • Stem cells can be successfully isolated and differentiated from inflamed primary dental pulp.
  • The isolation process for oral stem cells is technique-sensitive.
