Summary

Nightly tidal peritoneal dialysis (NTPD) offers adequate dialysis and creatinine clearance comparable to continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). This technique allows for an empty abdomen during the day, improving patient preference.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the necessary NTPD session length for adequate dialysis.
  • To compare creatinine clearance with CAPD.
  • To assess patient preference and feasibility of NTPD.

  • Five anuric, stable peritoneal dialysis patients participated in a 4-month study.
  • A modified PAC-X-2 cycler was used for NTPD, with drain phase regulated by target volume.
