Do opioids activate latent HIV-1 by down-regulating anti-HIV microRNAs?

Anti-HIV microRNAs regulate viral infectivity and latency in key immune cells. Morphine may suppress these microRNAs, potentially reactivating latent HIV-1, warranting further investigation in patients on HAART.
