  • Outcomes included step counts, physical activity, sitting time, and body mass index, assessed at baseline and postintervention.
  • Main Results:

    • Recruitment through general practice was low (6.2% response rate).
    • In the tailored group, 70% requested advice, finding it understandable, credible, relevant, and encouraging.
    • Daily step counts significantly increased in the total sample (2639 steps/day, P=.04), but no significant difference was found between conditions.

    Conclusions:

    • The developed computer-tailored step advice intervention was generally accepted and perceived as useful by participants.
    • Despite positive user feedback, the tailored intervention did not show superior efficacy compared to the standard pedometer-only intervention in this study sample.
