Summary

A new panel of 47 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) offers a powerful DNA profiling alternative. This SNP analysis is effective for individual identification, especially with degraded DNA samples, matching STR profiling capabilities.

    • SNP analysis demonstrates comparable effectiveness to STR profiling for human identification.
    • SNP analysis is particularly advantageous for individual identification when dealing with degraded DNA samples.
