Affective picture processing as a function of preceding picture valence: an ERP analysis

Contextual images did not alter brain responses to emotional stimuli. The early posterior negativity (EPN) and late positive potential (LPP) showed emotional stimuli were processed more intensely, regardless of preceding context.
