Summary

Diagnosing left atrial masses can be challenging. Coronary neovascularization in mitral stenosis may indicate a left atrial thrombus, but surgical resection is definitive for diagnosis.

  • Despite suspected vascular tumor (myxoma) due to neovascularization and anticoagulant resistance, histology confirmed organized thrombus.
  • Coronary neovascularization was observed in the left atrial thrombus associated with mitral stenosis.

Implications:

  • Coronary neovascularization can be a specific indicator of left atrial thrombus in mitral stenosis.
  • Surgical intervention is essential for definitive diagnosis of left atrial masses.
  • This case highlights the importance of considering thrombus even with tumor-like neovascularization.
