PRNP gene variation in Pakistani cattle and buffaloes

This study investigated Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) susceptibility in Pakistani cattle and buffaloes. Pakistani cattle show genetic variations suggesting higher resistance to classical BSE compared to European cattle.

- While genetic factors play a role, dietary exposure remains the primary risk factor for classical BSE.
