Abstract:
An extended role for pharmacists in primary health care is currently being pursued by the pharmacy profession. An independent enquiry into pharmacy concluded that pharmacists were an underused resource and recommended a wide-ranging development of their role. The recommendations of this inquiry were endorsed by the government in its 1987 primary health care white paper Promoting better health.
