1Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond 23284-2027.
Abstract:
This article examines aspects of social work in health care from a philosophy of science perspective, which suggests different ways of conceptualizing and defining variables ranging from service recipients to principles undergirding social work intervention. Focus is given to the relationships among theory, practice, and research in social work by considering the nature of clinical theory; health social work theory; and theory grounded research.
