Tocotrienols and alpha-tocopherol, forms of vitamin E, differentially affect key cholesterol-regulating enzymes. Tocotrienols inhibit HMG CoA reductase and cholesterol 7a-hydroxylase more strongly than alpha-tocopherol, especially at higher doses.
