N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels above 70 pg/mL effectively identify first-degree relatives at high risk for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This NT-proBNP cutoff aids in targeted screening for HCM in families.
