- Histopathological examination of the tonsillar lesion was performed after tonsillectomy.
Findings:
- Histopathology confirmed the tonsillar lesion to be a true benign hamartoma.
- The hamartoma was composed of disorganized, yet mature, tonsillar tissue.
- No evidence of malignancy was found.
Implications:
- This case highlights tonsil hamartoma as a rare differential diagnosis for chronic or recurrent tonsillar symptoms.
- Accurate histopathological diagnosis is crucial for differentiating benign hamartomas from other tonsillar pathologies.
