Summary

Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) were found to decrease triiodothyronine (T3) levels in rats, regardless of learned helplessness. This thyroid function change was observed in both healthy and stressed animals, suggesting T3 levels are not linked to TCA antidepressant effects.
