[Nucleotide sequence of aacC2 gene from a clinical strain of Escherichia coli]
Antibiotiki I Khimioterapiia = Antibiotics and Chemoterapy [Sic]
|October 1, 1990
Abstract:
The nucleotide sequence of the aacC2 gene encoding ++aminoglycoside acetyltransferase AAC(3)-II was determined. The structural part of the 852-bp aacC2 gene encoded the protein with the molecular weight of 30.6 consisting of 286 amino acids. The promotor region and the structural part of the gene were compared with the known sequences of the aacC2 gene. Evolutionary changes in the regulatory region as well as a number of nucleotide substitutes in the structural part of the gene and amino acid substitutes in the enzyme molecule were detected.

Area of Science:
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
- Biochemistry
Background:
- The aacC2 gene encodes the aminoglycoside acetyltransferase AAC(3)-II enzyme.
- Understanding gene sequences is crucial for antibiotic resistance research.
Purpose of the Study:
- To determine the nucleotide sequence of the aacC2 gene.
- To compare the determined sequence with known aacC2 sequences.
- To identify evolutionary changes and substitutions.
Main Methods:
- DNA sequencing
- Bioinformatic analysis
- Sequence comparison
Main Results:
- The nucleotide sequence of the 852-bp aacC2 gene was determined.
- The gene encodes a 286-amino acid protein (30.6 kDa).
- Evolutionary changes in the regulatory region and nucleotide/amino acid substitutions were identified.
Conclusions:
- The study provides the complete nucleotide sequence of the aacC2 gene.
- Detected variations suggest evolutionary adaptations in the gene.
- These findings contribute to understanding aminoglycoside resistance mechanisms.
