Background:

Open-angle glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy.
Ab interno trabeculotomy using the Trabectome is a surgical option for managing open-angle glaucoma.
Delayed complications after glaucoma surgery require careful monitoring.

Purpose of the Study:

To characterize patients experiencing delayed-onset hyphema after ab interno trabeculotomy with the Trabectome.
To identify potential triggers and clinical courses associated with this complication.

Main Methods:

Retrospective case series of patients undergoing Trabectome surgery.
Inclusion criteria: symptomatic hyphema occurring at least 2 months post-surgery.
Slit lamp and gonioscopy examination for hyphema diagnosis.

12 of 262 (4.6%) patients developed delayed-onset symptomatic hyphema.
Average age was 74.3 years; median onset was 8.6 months post-surgery.
