  • A 35-year-old patient with severe AKC received omalizumab (300 mg twice monthly) for two years.
  • The objective was to mitigate the risk of steroid-induced keratitis.

Findings:

  • Within four months, the patient experienced improved quality of life and ocular symptoms.
  • Oral steroid use was substantially reduced.
  • Omalizumab treatment was well-tolerated by the patient.

Implications:

  • Omalizumab shows potential as a therapeutic option for severe atopic keratoconjunctivitis.
  • It may offer an alternative to avoid side effects associated with other immunosuppressive treatments.
  • Further clinical trials are warranted to confirm efficacy in allergic eye diseases.
