Summary

Endoscopic sinus surgery effectively removes symptomatic sinonasal osteomas. New instruments improve safety and efficacy in treating these challenging benign tumors.

  • Comparison of standard ESS instruments with newer technologies.
  • Main Results:

    • 29 patients (13 male, 16 female; mean age 49.5 years) were treated.
    • Osteomas located at frontoethmoidal junction (14), frontal sinus (6), ethmoid (6), sphenoid (1), and maxillary (1).
    • No major complications or recurrence observed during a mean follow-up of 52 months.

    Conclusions:

    • Endoscopic removal of sinonasal osteomas is feasible.
    • Lesion location and size are critical considerations for surgical success.
    • Newer ESS instruments enhance the safety and effectiveness of osteoma removal.
