S-100 beta subunit was found in arterial endothelial cells of pigs and cows.

    Conclusions:

    • S-100 protein expression in lymph node cells is a conserved feature in mammals but absent in ducks, suggesting species-specific roles.
    • Variations in S-100 protein and subunit distribution highlight distinct cellular compositions and functions across mammalian lymph nodes.
    • The identification of unique S-100-positive cells in specific species (guinea pig, pig) warrants further investigation into their immunological significance.
