Summary

Music-based Sound Training for Attention and Memory in Dementia (STAM-Dem) improved prose memory and attention in elderly patients with dementia. The protocol is feasible and shows a general improvement in cognitive functions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • A multicenter, single-blind, randomized controlled trial was conducted.
  • 51 elderly patients with dementia participated.
  • The experimental group received STAM-Dem (2x45 min/week for 12 weeks) plus standard care; the control group received standard care only.
