Summary

Pulmonary hydatid disease was initially diagnosed in a patient with a lung cavity. However, subsequent analysis revealed invasive aspergillosis following a ruptured hydatid cyst, a previously unreported complication.

  • Operative samples from the lesion were obtained for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

  • Histological examination of the operative samples revealed invasive aspergillosis within the cavity and surrounding lung tissue.
  • This finding contradicted the initial diagnosis of uncomplicated pulmonary hydatid disease.
