Evidence for plasmid mediated dissimilation of catechol in Azotobacter chroococcum

Abstract:
Catechol dissimilation in A. chroococcum was encoded by plasmid pMSB1. This self transmissible plasmid was effectively cured by mitomycin C. The cured cells did not harbour the plasmid and failed to utilize catechol.
