Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Bone epithelioid angiosarcoma is a rare malignancy.
  • It often exhibits positive immunostaining for epithelial and vascular markers.

Observation:

  • A case of multicentric bone epithelioid angiosarcoma was initially misdiagnosed as metastatic carcinoma.
  • Osteolytic lesions were observed in the bilateral heels and left humerus.

Findings:

  • Immunohistochemical analysis confirmed the diagnosis, showing positivity for CD31, factor VIII, vimentin, and neuron-specific enolase.
  • The tumor demonstrated a high degree of malignancy with rapid progression.

Implications:

  • Correct diagnosis through immunohistochemistry is vital to differentiate from carcinomas and lymphomas.
