Background:

A structured nursing record system was implemented across 8 hospitals, but laptop use limited nurse mobility at the bedside.
This limitation created a significant demand for mobile device solutions.

Purpose of the Study:

To address the challenges of developing mobile tools for nursing documentation.
To create a user-friendly interface that respects the mobile paradigm and ensures qualitative data acquisition.

Main Methods:

Evaluation of various user interfaces with nurses in real clinical conditions.
Iterative design focusing on patient selection, screen navigation, and task management.

Main Results:

The developed solution simplifies patient selection and navigation.
A clear task list enhances efficiency for nurses using mobile devices.
The redesigned interface is better adapted to the mobile nursing workflow.

Conclusions:

Adapting existing electronic health record tools for mobile devices presents significant difficulties.
Smart organization of information on mobile platforms can yield tools with similar functionalities but improved user adaptation.
