- Canine leishmaniasis should be considered in the differential diagnosis for dogs presenting with acute neurological deficits.
- The parasite may induce vasculitis, predisposing to cerebrovascular events like brain infarcts.
- Further research is warranted to elucidate the pathogenesis of these neurological complications.
