Summary

Severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria, characterized by high parasite counts, can be life-threatening. Exchange transfusion (ET) offers a critical supportive therapy, significantly improving outcomes in hyperparasitemic malaria cases unresponsive to standard antimalarial drugs.
