Abstract:
Hospital-acquired infection costs money and lives. Improving compliance with hand hygiene is proving an intractable problem as initial gains often lack sustainability. A growing field of research suggests that health service managers may have a critical role in dealing with this issue, which crosses all professional boundaries.
