Summary

Chitin membranes infused with silver nanoparticles show significant antimicrobial properties. These novel wound dressings effectively combat common wound pathogens like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.

Prospective, Randomized, and Controlled Study of a Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cell Injection for Treating Diabetic Foot Ulcers

  • Characterization using UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
  • In vitro antimicrobial testing of chitin-AgNP membranes (30-100 ppm) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.

    • TEM confirmed spherical AgNPs (3-13 nm).
    • Chitin membranes with 70 ppm AgNPs eradicated P. aeruginosa within 1 hour.
    • 100 ppm AgNP membranes achieved a 4-log reduction of S. aureus in 6 hours.

    • Chitin membranes containing silver nanoparticles exhibit potent antimicrobial capabilities.
    • The 100 ppm AgNP chitin membranes demonstrate significant potential against common wound pathogens.
