Background:

Small bowel adenocarcinoma is a rare malignancy with poorly understood tumorigenesis and non-specific symptoms, leading to diagnostic delays and poorer patient outcomes.
Videocapsule endoscopy (VCE) and double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) have significantly advanced the diagnosis and management of small bowel diseases.
Current treatment strategies for small bowel adenocarcinoma involve surgery as the primary option when feasible, with chemotherapy lacking standardized protocols.

Observation:

Two cases of primary jejunum adenocarcinoma were diagnosed in women aged 52 and 72 within a two-month period.
Tumors were located in the jejunum, a less common site compared to the duodenum.
Both patients underwent DBE for biopsy and ink marking, followed by laparoscopic-assisted segmental bowel resection.

Findings:

Pathologic diagnosis confirmed primary jejunum adenocarcinoma in both patients.
No post-operative mortality or significant morbidities were observed.
The combined approach of DBE and laparoscopic surgery proved successful in both cases.

Implications:

The combination of DBE and laparoscopic-assisted bowel surgery presents an ideal diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for jejunum adenocarcinoma.
This case series highlights the efficacy of minimally invasive techniques in managing rare small bowel tumors.
Further research into the tumorigenesis and standardized treatment of small bowel adenocarcinoma is warranted.
