Shoulder manipulation in patients with adhesive capsulitis and diabetes mellitus: A clinical note

Five patients with diabetes mellitus and six affected shoulders underwent 10 manipulations under general anesthesia. During the postmanipulotion course the gains in motion made at the time of manipulation and the relief of pain achieved began to diminish at 2 weeks, gradually returning to premanipulation levels at 4 weeks. The level of pain and the limitation of motion continued during the entire period of follow-up, averaging 8 months. In these patients manipulation had no effect on the course of the adhesive copsulitis.
