Summary

Postoperative diplopia is a potential complication of various eye surgeries, particularly those involving orbital trauma. This review focuses on diplopia risks associated with orbital fracture repair and other procedures.

Background:

Diplopia, or double vision, can arise after ocular and pericocular surgeries.
Commonly associated procedures include orbital fracture repair, endoscopic sinus surgery, and orbital decompression for thyroid-related immune orbitopathy (TRIO).

Observation:

While diplopia after orbital tumor resection is documented, a recent case series indicates it is infrequent and temporary.
Surgical management of orbital trauma presents the highest risk for developing postoperative diplopia.

Findings:

This review emphasizes diplopia risks following orbital trauma surgery.
A case report details worsening diplopia after orbital floor fracture repair using implants, highlighting potential motility disturbances.
