Pentoxifylline in severe alcoholic hepatitis: a prospective, randomised trial

Pentoxifylline (PTX) improved liver and kidney function in severe alcoholic hepatitis (SAH) patients. While not statistically significant, PTX showed a trend toward reduced short-term mortality and renal failure in this patient group.
