Abstract:
The lack of adequate prenatal care exacts a high price from our nation's infants and hospitals. Reports put this as a cause of approximately two-thirds of infant deaths. And a significant percentage of hospitals' uncompensated care bills are the result of care delivered to mothers and their infants. However, health care executives in a number of communities have devised some unique programs to improve women's access to high-quality prenatal care.
