QT Dispersion: Does It Change after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention?

Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on electrocardiography (ECG) parameters.
- To assess changes in depolarization and repolarization after PCI in patients with chronic stable angina.

- Patients with chronic stable angina and single-vessel disease underwent PCI.
- Twelve-lead ECGs were recorded before and 24 hours after PCI.
- QRS duration, QT, corrected QT, JT, and corrected JT durations were measured and compared.
Main Results:
- PCI led to a significant reduction in mean corrected QT dispersion (0.080 ± 0.04 sec vs. 0.068 ± 0.04 sec; p=0.001).
- PCI also significantly reduced mean corrected JT dispersion (0.074 ± 0.04 sec vs. 0.063 ± 0.04 sec; p=0.001).
- A significant decrease in QRS interval was observed (0.086 ± 0.01 sec vs. 0.082 ± 0.01 sec; p=0.01).
Conclusions:
- PCI prominently shortens corrected QT dispersion and corrected JT dispersion.
- These findings suggest PCI improves cardiac repolarization in patients with chronic stable angina.
