Background:

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are indicated for patients with a history of upper gastrointestinal bleeding or those on dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with additional risk factors.
Concerns exist regarding potential interactions between PPIs, particularly omeprazole, and clopidogrel, leading to regulatory warnings from the FDA and EMA.
The clinical significance of this interaction remains debated due to conflicting evidence.

Purpose of the Study:

To review the existing literature on the interaction between proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and clopidogrel.
To evaluate the pharmacodynamic and clinical evidence regarding the impact of PPIs on clopidogrel efficacy.
To provide guidance on the appropriate use of PPIs in patients undergoing DAPT.
