  • A 56-year-old male presented with an anterior mediastinal mass.
  • Computed tomography (CT) revealed a lobulated mass with smooth margins and homogeneous enhancement.
  • These imaging findings raised suspicion for thymoma.

Findings:

  • Surgical thymothymomectomy was performed for the anterior mediastinal mass.
  • Histological examination identified short spindle-shaped tumor cells forming nests.
  • The presence of lymphoid stroma with lymphoid follicles confirmed the diagnosis of metaplastic thymoma (MNT).

Implications:

  • This case highlights the surgical and diagnostic approach to metaplastic thymoma.
  • The long-term prognosis following MNT resection remains largely unknown.
