Summary

Extragastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) are rare cancers outside the digestive tract. This report details the first-ever case of EGIST diagnosed during pregnancy, a highly unusual occurrence.

Background:

Extragastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms distinct from the gastrointestinal tract.
EGISTs share clinicopathologic and histomorphologic similarities with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs).
Both EGISTs and GISTs typically express CD-117 (c-kit proto-oncogene protein).

To report the first documented case of EGIST occurring during pregnancy.
To highlight the rarity of EGIST and its coexistence with pregnancy.
