Abstract:
Multiple periodontal lesions were the presenting features leading to a diagnosis of multiple myeloma in a 38-year-old male. Ulceration and bleeding from a rapidly growing retromolar myelomatous mass, multiple foci of alveolar bone destruction and cortical expansion together with multifocal skeletal destruction were the hallmarks of the neoplastic process. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy brought a substantial, but temporary, remission with improvement of the periodontal condition. A sudden exacerbation of the died 22 months after the diagnosis was made.
