Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate flavour identification abilities in patients with FTLD.
  • To correlate these deficits with brain structure and specific FTD subtypes.

  • Prospective study of 25 FTD patients (bvFTD, svPPA, nfvPPA) and 17 controls.
  • Utilized a novel cross-modal flavour identification test.
  • Assessed odour identification and performed voxel-based morphometry on brain MRI scans.

  • FTLD patients, especially bvFTD and svPPA subgroups, showed significant flavour identification deficits.
