  • Recruited 45 individuals with bipolar I disorder (BP-I) (with/without psychotic features) or bipolar II disorder (BP-II), 7 unaffected relatives, and 32 HS.
  • Acquired T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans for all subjects.
  • Measured total WMH volume (cm³) and analyzed differences using ANOVA and logistic regression.

  • Mean total WMH volume was significantly higher in BP-I patients with psychotic features than in HS (p < 0.05).
