  • A 35-year-old woman presented with DIC, later diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • The patient experienced pulmonary dysfunction (lymphangitis carcinomatosa) and liver dysfunction with jaundice during treatment.
  • Metastatic lesions were found in the bone marrow, lungs, and liver.

Findings:

  • Initial treatment with paclitaxel controlled DIC but was followed by pulmonary dysfunction.
  • Sequential chemotherapy with epirubicin, cyclophosphamide, and vinorelbine showed differential efficacy against various metastatic sites.
  • Despite treatment, the patient ultimately succumbed to liver failure.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the unusual presentation of breast cancer with hematologic manifestations.
