Rotational angiography (RA) XperSwing offers improved coronary artery visualization and lesion characterization compared to standard methods. This technique provides more accurate measurements of lesion length and vessel diameter, particularly in complex coronary segments.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Medical Imaging
- Interventional Cardiology
Background:
- Coronary angiography (CA) is the standard for coronary artery disease assessment but uses limited projections.
- Bidimensional projections in CA may not optimally define coronary segments.
- Rotational angiography (RA) XperSwing offers multi-view visualization with a single contrast injection.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the accuracy of coronary lesion quantification using RA XperSwing.
- To compare lesion measurements obtained with RA XperSwing against standard projections.
Main Methods:
- Quantitative coronary analysis of significant stenosis (>50%) was performed.
- Lesions were measured in optimal (DARCA-derived) and standard projections.
- Intra- and inter-observer correlation was assessed using Kappa index.
Main Results:
- 205 lesions in 147 patients were analyzed.
- RA XperSwing yielded significantly greater lesion length and vessel diameter measurements.
- Improved characterization was noted, especially in segments with greater angulation.
Conclusions:
- RA XperSwing enhances coronary artery visualization and lesion characterization.
- The technique provides more accurate quantitative measurements of coronary lesions.
- RA XperSwing is particularly beneficial for assessing lesions in tortuous coronary segments.
