High caloric intake nearly doubles the odds of developing mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Moderate caloric intake showed no significant association with MCI risk in older adults.

- Stratified analyses by apolipoprotein E ε4 genotype status were also conducted.

- High caloric intake is associated with an increased likelihood of mild cognitive impairment in older adults.
- Moderate caloric intake does not appear to increase MCI risk.
- Further research is needed to establish a causal relationship.
