Autoimmune thyroid disease in vitiligo: multivariate analysis indicates intricate pathomechanisms

Patients with vitiligo, particularly females with longer disease duration and greater body surface involvement, are more likely to have autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD). Regular monitoring for thyroid function and antibodies is recommended for these individuals.

- Female patients, those with longer disease duration, and extensive body surface involvement are at higher risk for AITD.
- These patients warrant regular screening for thyroid dysfunction and autoantibodies.
