    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the EEG and polygraphic characteristics of micro-arousals (MA) during human sleep.
    • To examine the influence of experimental conditions, including psychostimulants, sensory stimulation, and sleep deprivation rebound, on MA frequency and distribution.
    • To explore the correlation between MA occurrence, sleep depth, sleep cycles, and arousal system modulation.

    • Studied 8 young adult humans over 40 night sessions under five experimental conditions.
    • Utilized electroencephalography (EEG) and polygraphy to record sleep and arousal patterns.
