  • To report on patients with serous carcinoma involving endometrial polyps.
  • To investigate the potential for multicentric disease in these patients.

  • Retrospective case series of sixteen patients.
  • Clinical and pathological data review.

  • Six of sixteen patients presented with extrauterine disease.
  • Of ten patients with clinical stage I disease, six recurred, and four died within 19 months.
  • High rates of ovarian and fallopian tube epithelial hyperplasia were noted.

Conclusions:

  • Serous carcinoma involving endometrial polyps may be part of a multicentric process.
  • The entire female genital tract and peritoneum are at risk, even without significant invasion.
