Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Behavioral Medicine

Background:

  • Chronic migraine is a significant cause of disability.
  • Risk factors and lifestyle habits contribute to migraine chronification.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the role of behavioral treatments in preventing migraine chronification.
  • To highlight the importance of patient awareness and healthy habits.

Main Methods:

  • Review of behavioral therapies including relaxation, biofeedback, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Emphasis on patient recognition and management of migraine triggers.
  • Integration of behavioral therapies with physical and pharmacological interventions.

Main Results:

  • Behavioral treatments reduce the risk of transforming episodic migraines into chronic migraines.
  • Patient awareness of triggers allows for better management of attack frequency and duration.
  • Healthy habits improve quality of life and well-being, breaking the cycle of chronification.

Conclusions:

  • Behavioral therapies are effective in managing and preventing migraine chronification.
  • Integrated care combining behavioral, physical, and pharmacological treatments offers the highest level of patient care.
