Summary

Observation:

  • A transumbilical SIL sigmoidectomy was performed on a 40-year-old male patient with a history of diverticular abscess and recurrent diverticulitis.
  • The procedure utilized a multichannel single port placed at the umbilicus, with conventional laparoscopic instruments.
  • The surgery involved resecting 25 cm of sigmoid colon, with an operative time of 159 minutes.

Findings:

  • Transumbilical SIL sigmoidectomy was successfully completed using standard laparoscopic instruments and staplers.
  • The patient experienced a rapid recovery, resuming oral diet on postoperative day one and being discharged six days after surgery.
  • No intraoperative or postoperative complications were observed, with complete recovery and good scar healing at one month.
