Main Results:

  • Luminal A (34%), Luminal B HER2- (25%), Triple Negative (19%), Luminal B HER2+ (11%), and HER2+ (10.2%) were the main molecular subtypes.
  • Ductal NOS was the most common histological type (58.5%).
  • Significant associations were observed: mucinous, tubular, and cribriform histotypes were more common in Luminal A; medullary carcinomas were exclusively triple-negative. Other subgroups showed more advanced pathological stage and lower histological grade compared to Luminal A.

Conclusions:

  • A significant link exists between specific breast cancer histotypes and molecular subgroups.
  • Histological classification provides valuable insights into the underlying biology of breast cancer subtypes.
