Summary

Internal fixation successfully treated an open pisiform fracture in a 53-year-old man. This wrist fracture management resulted in full healing and functional recovery at six months.

  • The case presented a clinical dilemma regarding the optimal treatment strategy: proximal fragment excision versus internal fixation.

Findings:

  • The patient was treated with internal fixation using a 2.5 cortical screw.
  • Radiographic evaluation at 6 months post-surgery demonstrated complete fracture consolidation.
  • The patient achieved full functional recovery of the wrist.
